Fox Narrowboats Ltd

We are an independent boat hire family company who manages a marina and wharf for narrowboat holidays, canal breaks and day boat hire. We also design and build our own narrowboats.

We collect some data automatically:

Online advertising we use

We use Google Ad words to advertise our services. These are small text adverts shown in Google Search.

In addition we use Google AdWords Remarketing to advertise Fox Narrowboats across the Internet. AdWords remarketing will display relevant ads tailored to you based on what parts of the Foxboats.co.uk website you have viewed by placing a cookie on your device. What information will Fox Narrowboats collect about me?

None of your personal information is shared with another company for marketing purposes.

Personal Data – Booking

If you decide to book boat hire with Fox Narrowboats or buy an item from our online canal boat shop we will collect information to improve our service for you. We will collect your full name, phone number, address and email address. Extra information may be requested such as additional passengers, additional phone numbers, disability information, car registration, pets, previous boating experience and any special requests.

Secure storage of your data

Storing your personal data is extremely important to us. We have invested in a dedicated online website server with a unique IP address. We have specialist IT firms to make sure its setup and maintained professionally. We use SSL data to encrypt your data.

Personal financial data

We DO NOT hold your financial details on our website. Online financial transactions are made via FCS WorldPay a well established trusted payment gateway.

Data collection – website statistics

None of this information is shared with another company for marketing purposes. However we do share access and information with our web design company and IT consultants so as to maintain our digital services like the website and email.

We track how people are interacting with our website we collect your IP address and track your browsing experience and how you found our website. This data is compiled anonymously and put into a monthly report. It is not connected to your personal information in anyway. This is crucial to us in a competitive marketplace.

We also collect your IP address on web forms. We reserve the right to block IP’s which deliver spam.

From time to time we send out an e-newsletter to customers who have booked, used our services or requested brochures.

Mooring With Us

Information Collected – If you moor with us you will need to complete a mooring agreement and we will collect the following date:

• Boat Name and length
• EA or MLC number
• Insurance Details
• Boat Safety Certificate details
Used For – The information we collect is the minimum required to enable us to provide you with a mooring and comply with the legislative / navigation authority rules. We will not be able to provide a mooring without this information.
Legal Basis – Performance of a Contract.

Mooring Newsletter

Information Collected – We may contact you occasionally to tell you about things which may impact upon your mooring.
Used For – This is to keep you informed of any developments which may impact upon your moorings, for example on planned works, or reminders of rules contained within the mooring agreements. We will also let you know of any current offers available in relation to your boat and offer advice dependent on the season.
Legal Basis – The legitimate Interests of Fox Narrowboats Ltd to provide customer services and ensure ongoing compliance with the mooring rules.

Boat Building

Information Collected – If you enter into a construction agreement to have a boat built we will hold the following data:
• Name
• Company Name (where applicable)
• Address
• VAT Number
Used For – The information we collect is the minimum required to enable us to provide you with a new boat. We will not be able to provide a mooring without this information..

Boat Maintenance

Information Collected – Other than minor repairs which will be processed as a till sale we may collect the following data:
• Name
• Address
• Email
• Phone number(s)
• Boat Name and length
Used For – The data collected will enable us to raise an invoice to you rather than issue a till receipt.

Registered Dealer in Controlled Oils (RDCO)

Information Collected – To enable us to sell you red diesel we will collect as a minimum:
• Your name
• Boat Name or vehicle registration
• Address
Used For – The data we collect enables us to comply with legislative requirements of a registered dealer in controlled oils

Brokerage

Information Collected – In order to buy or sell a boat through our brokerage operation we will collect as a minimum:

• Proof of identity
• Relevant Finance details
Used For – The data we hold allows us to act as a broker for the sale or purchase of a second hand craft

Information Collected – If there is an incident while you are on a break we will need to investigate and may collect:
• Names of party on board
• Names of any witnesses
• Contact details
Used For – To understand the root cause of any incidents to allow us to resolve any issue. We may pass these details to authorities or insurance companies

How long do we keep your information?
Your personal information will only be held for as long as is necessary to provide services to you unless we need to for a longer period of time – for example where there is a legal / statutory obligation to retain information, or if our insurers require us to keep information for certain periods of time.
If there is a possibility that you may have a legal claim against us, for example if you had an accident, we will then hold the information for the statutory limitation period associated with such legal claims.

Security on Site

CCTV maybe used across the marina to ensure guest and employee safety.
Where necessary the footage may also be shared with the authorities for law enforcement purposes.

Fox Narrowboats Ltd are committed to keeping your data secure. This will be through the use of suitable physical, electronic and management procedures including locked cupboards or cabinets, restricting unaccompanied publics assess to certain offices, data encryption and electronic password protection and ensuring where hosted off site our supplier meet our protection requirements.

It could be that we have to disclose your personal information by law if a court, police officer /. Other law enforcement agency has requested it in the appropriate way.

Insurance: We may disclose your personal information to our insurance providers in the case of any accident or incident to assist in the claim.

It’s your right under the UK Data Protection Act. It costs £10 and you’ll need to provide two copies of your ID. These can include your:
